On a cold and crispy winter’s afternoon Westway CT volunteer driver Tim braved the London traffic to take members to see the best of London’s Christmas Lights.
Tim has been driving for us for many years and makes sure that members can go on trips they otherwise wouldn’t be able to. Volunteering to drive across London is no mean feat and we are grateful to Tim for doing this! The route was impressive, from North London to central to the City and back, nothing was missed; Tower Bridge, The Embankment, Trafalgar Square, Oxford Street and Knightsbridge.
London is spectacular at this time of year, lights dazzle every corner of the city, making sure everyone has the chance to find their Christmas spirit. But, while many of us view these on our daily commute or Christmas shopping trips, for our members it’s less likely they will have the same chance to be part of the feeling, unless we can help them.
Our members have trouble using public transport. Getting out and about under their own steam isn’t an option for those that are older or have mobility issues. Feeling part of your community is a big deal for Westway CT, it’s what drives us and Christmas is the capital C in community feeling so it’s not surprising a trip to see the lights was planned!
Seasons Greetings – is it too early? We don’t think so!
