Westminster Shopper Service

The Shopper Service is for elderly and disabled residents who live in Westminster

Eating well is essential for your health and well-being, and being able to shop for your own food means you choose exactly what you want to eat.

The Westway CT Shopper Service supports people to stay in control, remain independent and have choices. Delivered in an accessible minibus that is very easy to board, with low steps and wheelchair access. There is a passenger assistant on hand to help you get on and off the bus, to stow and carry your bags, and if necessary help you in the supermarket. One of the team (either the passenger assistant or the driver) will also help take shopping bags to your front door when you return home.

How does the service work?

You will share the journey on our minibus with other members of Westway CT. Everyone is collected from home, taken to a supermarket and given time to shop. We then collect and bring you all back home again. There is a timetable (see below).

We tend to pick passengers up from the same areas, so you will often get to know other people living close to you. It’s not unusual for friendships to form.

We are told that the service alleviates stress and makes a positive difference in people’s lives.
