The Shopper Service is for elderly residents of Westminster
Shopping for food and groceries is an essential part of staying well and independent. The Westway CT Shopper Service supports older people to be in control of what they would like to purchase, and when.
Delivered in a minibus that is very easy to board, with low steps and wheelchair access, with a volunteer passenger assistant on hand to help passengers on and off the bus, to stow and carry bags, and if necessary help in the supermarket. Our team will also help take shopping bags to your front door when you return home.
How it works
Passengers share the journey on our minibus with other members of Westway CT. Members are collected from home, taken to a supermarket and given time to shop. We then collect and bring them back home again. There is a timetable (see below).
We tend to pick people up from the same area, so passengers get to know people living close to them. It’s not unusual for friendships to form. We are told that the service alleviates stress and makes a positive difference in people’s lives.
Westminster Shopper Timetable
The bus travels to well-known supermarkets on different days of the week.
The Shopper Service is funded by Westminster City Council and is FREE to elderly residents of Westminster.
