Shopper Service: How it Helps People Remain Independent

Shopper Service Interview Photo

The Shopper Service, also known as the Flexibus, runs for both the boroughs of Westminster and RBKC. The service is a door-to-door minibus service that takes members to a range of shops, helps users carry their shopping to their homes. It is a service that has been running since Westway CT’s founding in 1991. The shopper service is a service for protecting and promoting independence in old age and helps combat social isolation and its negative effects.

The video below is an interview with three Westway CT users and one of our volunteers, Tim. We interviewed them to find out their thoughts about our service. We also wrote an article based on the interview for those who prefer to read.

In addition, we also interviewed Lesley Geros another Westway CT Shopper Service user. She told us how vital the service was for her. Without it and the accompanying passenger assistant, she would have to carry her own shopping 40 stairs to her flat. This is after she has broken her hip once and thus struggles with mobility issues. She stated she couldn’t manage without the service.
