The start of a new year feels like the perfect moment to remind ourselves why we do what we do – and how you can be part of it.
At heart, we’re about freedom. Freedom to get out and about, to stay connected to your community, to live independently, and to avoid the loneliness and isolation that can creep in when getting from A to B becomes difficult.
We support older people who need a bit of extra help, and community groups who rely on accessible, affordable transport. That means minibuses and friendly, trained drivers – some volunteer their time. It might sound simple, but transport is the key that unlocks modern life. When you have it, everything feels possible; when you don’t, everyday activities can quickly become out of reach. Age, mobility challenges, or financial pressures mean far too many people are left without reliable transport – and that’s where we step in.
Community transport plays a vital role across the UK, helping to enable around 20 million passenger journeys each year. Funded through a mix of local and national grants, we’re proud to provide a service that our passengers regularly describe as “life-changing” – their words, not ours.
You can support us simply by noticing us in action as we travel through your neighbourhood, recognising how essential community transport is, and talking about it with others. Seeing us, valuing us, and using our services helps us keep communities connected. Thank you – your awareness and support truly make what we do possible.
Please take a look at our website, lots of things to find out about, from school runs, to voluntary car services, to food bank deliveries, and of course Shopper Bus and supporting local groups and charities – there is something for everyone. Let’s make a difference to where we live together. You might even like to volunteer a bit of time or even work for us as a Driver!
