Three Cheers For Our Volunteers!

June 2, 2026

As we celebrate National Volunteers’ Week, we’re delighted to see one of our volunteers, Tim Sai Louie, recognised by the Community Transport Association for his outstanding contribution to community transport.

Tim embodies the very spirit of volunteering. What began as driving for our Community Car Scheme has grown into support across multiple services, from driving for our Excursions Programme and minibus services to contributing ideas and representing volunteers at committee level.

Between April 2025 and March 2026 alone, Tim donated an incredible 640 hours of his time to supporting local people.

What stands out most is his understanding of what community transport makes possible:

“I especially enjoy supporting day trips in the minibus, knowing that for some clients this may be their only opportunity to get out, connect with others, and enjoy a change of scenery.”

That sentiment captures exactly why volunteers matter.

Community transport is about far more than journeys. It’s about connection, independence, wellbeing and ensuring people remain part of the communities they call home. Volunteers are often the bridge between services and the people who rely on them.

The good news is that volunteering doesn’t have to mean making a huge commitment. Whether you have a little time or a lot, every journey makes a difference. Our volunteer drivers help people get to appointments, activities, the shops and community groups, supporting the everyday moments that help people stay connected.

You don’t have to change the world. You just have to help someone get where they need to be.

We’re incredibly grateful to Tim and to all our volunteers whose generosity, commitment and community spirit help make our work possible every day.

If you’d like to find out more about becoming a volunteer driver, we’d love to hear from you. Give us a call on: 0208 964 4928!
