Kindness -The Fuel as Important as Diesel

September 1, 2026

What does kindness have to do with community transport? More than you might think.

We often talk about infrastructure in terms of things we can see: roads, buses, buildings and services.

But strong communities also rely on something less tangible, just people being willing to look out for one another.

In community transport, that happens every day.

A driver taking a little extra time to make sure someone is comfortable. A volunteer giving their time. Passengers chatting to someone who might otherwise spend much of the day alone. A local group creating somewhere for people to meet and belong.

None of these are grand gestures.

But together, they create something important: a community where people feel supported and able to participate.

That’s why we don’t see kindness as separate from what we do. It’s part of the culture that makes community transport work.

The journey gets someone from A to B. But the human connection along the way can be just as important.

Perhaps that’s a useful reminder for all of us.

Communities aren’t built through big gestures alone. They’re built through the small things we do for one another, every day and for us at Westway CT we run on both diesel and kindness to get us to where we need to be – helping others.
