This week 16-21 October, is National Community Transport Week – the first ever. A dedicated week to raising awareness about the incredible work of community transport providers up and down the country who deliver 23 million journeys every year.
The week is organised by the CTA (Community Transport Association). Their CEO Victoria Armstrong says,
CT week is about shining a light on the work we do, celebrating the sector and spreading the word so that more and more people can learn from our stories and experiences. We want to inspire others to think about how they can create their own transport solutions from within their communities.
CT is more than just a form of transport. It knits communities together, enabling everyone to be part of the place where they live, making it accessible to those who can’t use mainstream transport, or by helping local groups to deliver services to their members affordably.
CT providers often come into existence because there are still so many people unable to access mainstream transport options. CT bridges these gaps and connects people to their communities. Westway CT has been connecting communities for 30 years. Our team of drivers and vehicles help hundreds of people and groups every week with accessible, low cost transport that helps them get to where they want to be. Without it many would struggle.
You can find out more about our service, including home to school, shopper bus and group transport by exploring this website or just give us a call. And throughout the week we’ll be sharing what our members think of us and the impact we are making across West London.
