Trust, Charities And Community Transport

August 18, 2026

A recent report from the Community Transport Association ( the body that advocates and guides CT in the UK) took a deep dive into the Charity Commission’s latest research into public trust in charities, and what it means for community transport – many of which are local charities themselves dependent on local funding and community support.

The research is encouraging: 57% of people have high trust in charities, and 70% believe charities they know about are making a real difference.

But trust isn’t built through words alone. It’s built when people can see the impact. And community transport is tangible:

It’s a passenger getting to the shops.

A volunteer helping someone reach an appointment.

A local group being able to bring its members together.

An older person getting out for the day and staying connected to their community.

These are the everyday threads we can take for granted, but they are doing a lot of heavy lifting – stitching a community together and helping it to stay connected.

That’s why we believe in showing people what community transport makes possible.

Because behind every journey is a person, and behind every journey there is a reason it matters, and age, mobility or postcode shouldn’t determine what and if you get access to your community.
