This is the principle behind our Volunteer Car Service.
Every day, local volunteer drivers like John in the picture here, help residents attend medical appointments, visit friends, and stay connected to their community. It’s practical support rooted in care, dignity, and independence.
When transport isn’t available, appointments are missed, isolation grows, and everyday life becomes harder than it needs to be. Community transport helps prevent that – one journey at a time.
Most of us rarely stop to think about how much we rely on being able to get from A to B. How different would your week look if you couldn’t get where you needed to go?
We take travel under our own steam for granted much of the time, it isn’t something we notice until we can’t. Cancelled tubes or delayed buses may cause us consternation but we find a way round it. But, if your confidence, age or mobility means you can’t use mainstream public transport, or you don’t have access to your own car, then you find yourself stuck in place.
We are looking for help to keep our volunteer car service up and running. If you have a car and could spare a little time each week or month, you could make a real difference to someone’s quality of life. We pay mileage and we work with you to make it work. You can read more on this here or please get in touch to chat with our friendly team about how to become a volunteer driver.
